President’s Medals for Republic Day 2026 Announced for Assam Police, Fire & Home Guard Personnel

Guwahati: The names of awardees for the President’s Medals on the occasion of Republic Day 2026 have been officially announced for personnel belonging to Assam Police, Fire Service, Home Guard and Civil Defence.According to an official press release issued by Assam Police, the awards include the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM). These honours recognise outstanding dedication, professionalism and exemplary service rendered by personnel in the field of internal security, emergency response and public service.

Under the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), Imdadul Hussain Bora, Inspector General of Police, Assam, named for his exceptional service. From the Home Guard and Civil Defence wing, Samiran Dey Purkayastha, Platoon Commander, Assam, also received the PSM.

The Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) will be awarded to several Assam Police officers, including Superintendents of Police Pranab Jyoti Goswami, Dr. Sadeque Ali Ahmed, Ripul Das, Nabaneet Mahanta, and Saurav Jyoti Saikia, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Moran.

Among other recipients are Inspector Jagdish Kalita, Sub-Inspector Parikshit Uzir and Pabin Chandra Das, and Lance Naiks Hemadhar Borah, Diganta Kumar Nath, Suresh Boro, Hobibur Rahman, and Prasad Talukdar, all from Assam Police.

From the Fire Service, Bhuban Chandra Mali, Sub Officer, and Nandeswar Das, Leading Fireman, will be honoured with the MSM.

In the Home Guard and Civil Defence category, Jaleswar Deka, Deputy Controller, and Chakradhar Barman, Platoon Commander, will be also awarded for their meritorious service.

The awards recognise the dedication, bravery, and commitment of personnel who have rendered exemplary service in maintaining law and order, public safety, and emergency response across the state.
