Guwahati : Debabrata Saikia, the Leader of Opposition in Assam, has lodged an FIR against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for an alleged hate speech delivered during a Jan Ashirwad rally in Madhya Pradesh. The FIR was filed at Nazira Police Station in Sivasagar based on Saikia’s complaint.
In the FIR, Saikia expressed his concern about Sarma’s statements during the Jan Ashirwad rally in Vidhisha district, Madhya Pradesh, on September 19, 2023. Saikia accused Sarma of taking electoral rhetoric to an unacceptable level by making derogatory comments about Sri Kamal Nath’s Hindu identity and suggesting harm to 10, Janpath.
