Guwahati: The Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Foundation, India has asked the Guwahati Police Commissioner to take quick action in a case of land grabbing and attack on a family in Basisthachal, Ganesh Nagar.

At a press meet held today at Guwahati Press Club, the Foundation said that they received a complaint from Dipali Bayan, a resident of the area for over 40 years. She alleged that a group of people entered her house in July, attacked her and her two sons, and even tore her clothes. Later, the attackers allegedly grabbed their land, vandalised their property, and removed the gate of the house.

The Foundation added that the family went to Basistha Police Station to file a complaint but no action was taken.

“We have video proof of the attack and the harassment. This is a clear case of human rights violation. We want police to take strict action and give justice to the family,” the Foundation’s representative said.

The Foundation has sent a formal complaint to the Commissioner of Police and urged him to take strong steps against the culprits.
