Guwahati: A woman lost her life on Monday after a landslide struck her house at Pahari Boro Path in Rupnagar. The tragic incident occurred around 11 AM, when a boulder rolled down the hillside and crashed into the bathroom while she was inside.
The victim has been identified as Reena Deka Das. Locals said she was trapped under the debris soon after the landslide. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the district administration rushed to the site and launched a rescue operation.
After several hours of operations, the SDRF team recovered the body at around 10:15 PM on Monday. Authorities are assessing the extent of damage and have urged residents in landslide-prone areas to stay alert.
