Guwahati: Guwahati Medical College welcomed its first baby conceived through IVF technology, confirmed by GMCH principal Achyut Chandra Baishya.
During a press conference, Baishya revealed that the hospital initiated an infertility clinic in 2022. On March 27, a female baby conceived through IVF was successfully delivered at the hospital, weighing 2.6 kg. Both mother and baby are reported to be in stable condition.

IVF treatments are available on Wednesdays and Fridays every week at the hospital, as stated by authorities. Dr. Abhijit Sarma, GMCH Superintendent, emphasized the accessibility and affordability of IVF treatment provided at GMCH.
