New Delhi: An FIR has been registered after a forged letter bearing the official letterhead and a fake signature of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was found circulating with malicious intent, sources from the Minister’s Office said today.
According to an official statement issued by the Office of the Union Minister, the fake letter amounts to a serious criminal offence involving forgery, impersonation, and misuse of official government identity. The alleged act is believed to have been carried out to spread misinformation and damage the credibility of a constitutional authority.
The Minister’s Office clarified that the letter and its contents are completely fake and fabricated. Law enforcement agencies have been requested to investigate the matter on priority and take strict legal action against those involved in circulating the forged document.
An FIR has already been lodged, and the matter is now under investigation. Authorities are examining the source of the fake letter and the individuals responsible for creating and circulating it.
The Office of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has also urged the public and media not to rely on or share any such fraudulent material. People have been advised to verify information only through official and authorised sources.
Officials said strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty in the case, as the misuse of official government identity is a punishable offence under the law.
