Closing Ceremony of Inter-Command Women’s Sports Meet 2025 Held at BSF Guwahati Frontier
Guwahati: The three-day Inter-Command Women’s Sports Meet 2025, organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) Guwahati Frontier, concluded on Wednesday at the Patgaon campus. The competition, held from August 25 to 27, saw the participation of 136 women athletes from the Eastern Command (Kolkata) and Western Command (Chandigarh).
Athletes competed in Judo, Wrestling, Weightlifting and Boxing across different weight categories. The Eastern Command emerged dominant, winning 28 gold, 24 silver and 9 bronze medals, while the Western Command secured 9 gold, 12 silver and 32 bronze medals.
The closing ceremony was graced by Sukhdev Raj, Inspector General, Guwahati Frontier, who congratulated the participants, officials and coaches. He said the aim of the event was to identify and train talented women athletes who could represent BSF at the national and international levels.
A colourful cultural programme marked the conclusion, featuring a Bihu dance and a performance by the BSF Brass Band, which enthralled the audience. Sukhdev Raj highlighted that BSF athletes have previously brought glory to the nation by winning medals at international platforms and receiving honours such as the Padma Shri and Arjuna Award. He expressed hope that many of the participants would continue this legacy by excelling in future competitions.
