As the Assam Assembly elections draw closer, Ayusmita Deka has emerged as an active and visible aspirant from the Palasbari constituency. She is the daughter of Chhattisgarh Governor and former MP Ramen Deka and has recently stepped into active politics.
Ayusmita Deka left her job in the United States and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She has openly expressed her desire to contest the upcoming Assembly elections from Palasbari and has been regularly interacting with local people.
Focusing on development, Ayusmita said she wants to use her experience in urban development for the proposed satellite city in Palasbari. She also stressed the need to modernise backward areas of the constituency, especially by improving the education sector.
Her growing activity comes at a time when internal differences within the local BJP unit have created political uncertainty in the constituency. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently hinted that new leadership could emerge when internal conflicts continue, a remark widely linked to the situation in Palasbari.
After the Chief Minister stated that the party would give priority to youth and women in the coming elections, Ayusmita Deka’s role has gained more attention. She has continued her campaign and grassroots outreach, positioning herself as a fresh and development-focused face.
Earlier, open disagreements between local leaders had drawn criticism from the Chief Minister, who warned that such actions harm the party’s image. In this situation, Ayusmita Deka’s steady presence and clear focus on development have strengthened her position.
As political activities intensify in Palasbari, Ayusmita Deka is increasingly seen as a key new face. However, the final decision on the party ticket and the election outcome will depend on the party leadership and the voters.
