Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Warns: “If BJP Loses Power, Assam Will Be Destroyed”
Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that if the BJP government does not return to power in Assam, the state will face complete destruction. He made the statement during a press conference held at Janata Bhawan after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister said that the situation in Assam is very different and mentioned a particular community. “Their population in Assam is around 1.3 crore. In many districts, they are the majority. In some parts of Guwahati, only they live, no one else,” he said.
Dr. Sarma further stated, “In the next 10 years, Assam will face a new kind of challenge. This community is now in the driving seat. Thousands of doctors, engineers, and contractors belong to them. Assamese Hindus now depend on them. They have become the owners, and the economy is now in their hands.”
He also said that eviction drives from forest and VGR (Village Grazing Reserve) lands will continue as usual.
Talking about Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s wife, Elizabeth Gogoi, the Chief Minister repeated his earlier claim that she had links with Pakistan. “She visited Pakistan many times and shared information with Pakistani citizens,” he said. Sarma added that an investigation report will reveal more details and insisted that he never speaks without proper information.
Commenting on the recent opposition meeting, Dr. Sarma mocked the unity efforts by saying, “It’s like planning a marriage — they are discussing who will attend, what food will be served, fish or meat. Their seriousness exists only in dreams.”
The Chief Minister also warned that no one should say anything that disrespects Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, while speaking about the expansion of Zubeen Kshetra.
