Assam ACS Officer Nupur Bora Arrested with ₹1.70 Crore Cash in CM Vigilance Raid
Guwahati: In a major anti-corruption action, the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC) arrested Assam Civil Services (ACS) officer Nupur Bora after finding ₹1.70 crore cash and a huge amount of gold and diamond jewellery at her home in Gotanagar, Maligaon.
Bora, who was serving as Circle Officer of Goroimari revenue circle in Kamrup district, had been under watch for nearly six months. Officials carried out the raid soon after Bora and her associate Deka returned to Guwahati on Sunday night.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Bora was involved in illegal land transfers, including handing over land owned by Hindus to “suspected citizens” in Barpeta district. He called the case a serious example of corruption in some revenue circles of Assam.
Bora is now in custody, and investigators are checking her role in large-scale corruption, land scams, and illegal transactions. More updates are expected as the probe continues.
