New Delhi: Assam-based project Aakhor AI is representing the state at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, being held at Bharat Mandapam from February 16 to 20.
Developed by Borno Labs Private Limited, the project aims to increase the digital presence of Assamese and make the language more accessible and useful in everyday life.
The summit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 16. The event has brought together leading AI organisations and startups from India and around ten other countries. More than 300 pavilions are showcasing advanced technologies and innovative products.
Aakhor AI has attracted attention for its efforts to preserve and promote Assamese and other Northeast Indian languages through artificial intelligence. The summit is attended by global technology leaders such as Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Sundar Pichai, Bill Gates, Demis Hassabis, and Mukesh Ambani, along with several Union Ministers.
By participating in this major international event, Aakhor AI has taken an important step in presenting Assamese-based AI technology to a global audience. At present, most advanced AI tools mainly support English and a few major global languages. Aakhor AI shows that regional languages like Assamese can also grow with modern technology.
The creators of the project, Kabyanil Talukdar and Indranil Talukdar, said that voice typing and creative writing tools in Assamese will help students, writers and small entrepreneurs work more efficiently in their mother tongue.
They expressed hope that Aakhor AI will open new opportunities for learning, creativity and digital growth in Assam in the coming years.
