He called upon party workers to stay connected with the people round the clock and work with full dedication for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started its preparations for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections with the state-level working committee meeting held in Guwahati. Addressing the inaugural session of the meeting, BJP National Working President Nitin Navin expressed strong confidence that the BJP will once again form the government in Assam with a huge majority under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting was attended by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP President Dilip Saikia, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda, Dr. Sambit Patra, along with senior party leaders, ministers of the state government, MLAs, and MPs Nitin Navin is visiting Assam for the first time after taking charge as the BJP’s National Working President. He received a warm welcome at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, where party leaders and workers greeted him enthusiastically.
While paying tribute to Assam’s first Chief Minister and Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi, Mr. Navin said that Bordoloi laid the foundation of Assam with a strong sense of nationalism. He also remembered Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, calling him a proud son of Assam. He said Assam’s culture and natural beauty are respected not only in the Northeast but across the country.
Mr. Navin recalled that in 2009, BJP had only five MLAs in Assam and party workers had to struggle hard. Today, BJP has become the strongest political force in the state, and he credited this success to the dedication and hard work of party workers.
He said former Prime Minister **Atal Bihari Vajpayee deeply cared about the Northeast and was the first Prime Minister to stay in Assam. Earlier governments treated the region as distant and ignored, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought the Northeast, especially Assam, into the mainstream of development. He said the Prime Minister has visited the Northeast more than 30 times in the last 11 years, showing how important the region is to him.Talking about Assam’s past problems, Mr. Navin said there was a time when illegal infiltration was common and previous governments remained silent for vote bank politics. Today, under BJP and NDA rule, action is being taken against illegal infiltration, and Assam is moving towards becoming a safe and developed state. He also spoke about major development works in Assam, especially the construction of roads and bridges. He said BJP does not work only during elections but stays connected with people to solve their problems. Referring to the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme, he said earlier only a small part of government money reached the people, but now every rupee sent from Delhi goes directly to the poor.
Navin highlighted Assam’s rich culture and unity among different communities. He thanked various cultural groups for their warm welcome in Guwahati and said this diversity is the true strength of India. He praised the inclusion of Charaideo Maidam in the UNESCO World Heritage list and efforts to bring back the historic Vrindavani Vastra to Assam.
Looking ahead to the elections, Mr. Navin said the election process will begin in the next two to three months. He called elections a “festival of democracy” for BJP workers and urged them to work round the clock. He stressed the importance of strong booth-level organisation and said winning booths is the key to winning elections.
He concluded by urging party workers to take government schemes and achievements to the people and work with full dedication to take Assam’s development to new heights under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
