Guwahati: Bharti Airtel has completed the first phase of a mobile connectivity project in partnership with the Indian Army’s 4 Corps headquarters at Tezpur to improve communication facilities in remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
Under the project, Airtel installed network infrastructure at 30 Army stations located in remote and mountainous regions of the state. The company said the initiative has improved voice and data connectivity in areas where communication services were previously limited.
According to Airtel, the project was implemented with logistical support from the Indian Army, which assisted in fibre deployment, power infrastructure and transportation of telecom equipment to difficult-to-access locations.
Following the completion of the first phase, Airtel and the Indian Army have agreed to undertake a second phase of the project. Under Phase 2, mobile network sites will be set up at 15 additional locations in Arunachal Pradesh.
Balaji R, CEO of North East and Assam, Bharti Airtel, said the project is part of the company’s efforts to expand connectivity in remote and challenging regions.
The initiative is expected to benefit both Army personnel and civilians living in these areas by providing improved mobile communication services.
