Guwahati: The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science at Assam down town University successfully hosted Pharma Anveshan 2026 – North East Zone, an important academic event held under the Pharmacy Council of India.

The programme brought together academicians, industry experts, policymakers and students to discuss innovation and growth in pharmaceutical sciences.

Speaking at the event, H. Lalhlenmawia highlighted the need for strong collaboration between education, industry and regulatory bodies. He encouraged students to focus on research and innovation.

The event is organised every year to mark the birth anniversary of Mahadeva Lal Schroff.

Chief Guest Montu Kumar M. Patel stressed the importance of modern education and industry partnership in pharmacy. He said the new curriculum under NEP will include areas like artificial intelligence, medical devices and biotechnology to prepare students for future challenges.

He also spoke about plans to introduce better digital systems, a single-window approval system for institutions and financial support of up to ₹1 crore for improving infrastructure in pharmacy colleges.

In his welcome speech, Saikat Sen said the event provides a platform for students and researchers to share ideas and work together.

During the programme, members of the pharmacy community who cleared civil service examinations in Assam and Mizoram were felicitated. The official newsletter “Pharmacy Today” was also launched, along with the university’s institutional magazine.

The event included panel discussions, scientific sessions, poster presentations and innovation showcases. It concluded with a cultural programme and distribution of awards to winners.

Organisers said the event helped promote research, knowledge sharing and development in pharmaceutical sciences in the region.
