Two-Day Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Workshop Kicks Off at Assam down town University

Guwahati: The Department of School Education and Literacy, in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), has launched a two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) for District Education Officers (DEOs) and DIET members at Assam down town University (AdtU).

The workshop aims to equip district-level education officials with essential skills in innovation, creativity, design thinking, and entrepreneurship, aligning with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The program is organized in partnership with the Wadhwani Foundation, a well-known organization promoting entrepreneurship education.

The Phase-1 IDE Bootcamp for PM SHRI schools, scheduled for October 30–31, is being conducted simultaneously across 25 states and 2 Union Territories.

The national inauguration was led by Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE; Dheeraj Sahu, Additional Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy; and Dr. Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman, AICTE.

At the state level, the Assam inauguration at AdtU was graced by Dr. (Prof.) N.C. Talukdar, Vice-Chancellor, AdtU; Khanindra Das, ACS, Officer on Special Duty, Samagra Shiksha Assam; Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Sr. Accounts Officer, AICTE, New Delhi; Nitin Kumar, Startup Fellow, MIC-AICTE; Anbumathi M, Founder, Resources Life Science and Master Trainer, Wadhwani Foundation; and Dr. Arvind Deshmukh, Consultant, Wadhwani Foundation. Over 60 District Education Officers and DIET members participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sunandan Baruah, Director of Innovation, Startup and Acceleration (DISA), AdtU, said,

“Today’s students must be more than learners—they must be innovators. This bootcamp is a major step toward building that mindset among educators.”

Echoing the same vision, Nitin Kumar, Nodal Officer, MoE Innovation Cell, emphasized,

“Empowering educators to think creatively is the first step toward building a nation that not only learns but innovates — the true spirit of Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

The workshop features interactive sessions, group activities, and design-thinking exercises designed to inspire creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving among participants. Through these sessions, attendees will explore why innovation matters in education, how to integrate entrepreneurial thinking, and ways to drive positive change in their respective districts.
