Traffic Restrictions Announced for Ambubachi Mela 2024

To ensure the safety of pilgrims, devotees, and the general public during the Ambubachi Mela 2024, and to ensure the free passage of emergency vehicles, the following traffic restrictions will be in place from 5 AM on June 22, 2024, to midnight on June 25, 2024. These measures are aimed particularly at protecting vulnerable road users such as children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled persons.

Traffic Restrictions:

Maa Kamakhya Foot Hill to Maa Kamakhya Temple:

No vehicles will be allowed except those with authorized car passes issued by the District Administration. Emergency vehicles like Fire Tenders, Ambulances, Vehicles carrying Life Saving Drugs, Oxygen Cylinders, and School Buses are exempted.

Pandu Cabin Tiniali to Bongshi Bagan:

Only vehicles with car passes and ferry vehicles will be allowed. No vehicles can cross Bongshi Bagan towards Maa Kamakhya Temple.

Devotees/Pilgrims from Jalukbari Side:

Vehicles will use the service lane of Nilachal Flyover, drop pilgrims opposite Gate No. 3 of Railway HQ, then take a U-turn under the flyover to designated parking at Adabari bus stand and Boripara field.

Devotees/Pilgrims from Bharalumukh Side:

Vehicles will use the service lane of Nilachal Flyover, drop pilgrims opposite Swagat Hospital (Railway Gate No. 4), then proceed to designated parking at Adabari bus stand and Boripara field.

ASTC and City Buses:

All buses will use the Nilachal Flyover from Jalukbari Rotary to Machkhowa, avoiding the service lane.

City Bus Drop Points:

From Jalukbari side: Biswakarma Mandir.

From Bharalumukh side: Boripara field.

No passenger drop-offs on either end of the bridge.

Devotees/Pilgrims Parking:

Two-wheelers, LMVs, and HMVs must park at Adabari Bus Stand or Boripara Field.

Restricted Parking Zones:

No parking under the Nilachal Flyover and on roads from Adabari Tiniali to Pandu Port and from Maligaon Chariali to Pandu Port.

Commercial Goods Vehicles:

Four-wheelers and above are restricted from Jalukbari Rotary to Machkhowa on DG Road, MG Road, and A.T Road.

Three-Wheelers and Slow-Moving Vehicles:

Restricted from Jalukbari Rotary to Machkhowa on DG Road, MG Road, and A.T Road.

Inter-District and Long-Distance Buses:

Prohibited on DG Road, MG Road, and AT Road. Buses from Lower Assam will park at Adabari Bus Stand.

Buses from Kamakhya Railway Junction:

Will use PNGB Road via DG Road to Adabari Tiniali, then move to Pandu Port Rest Camp.

Pilgrims from Temporary Rest Camps:

Will take the service lane of Nilachal Flyover.

Heavy Vehicles:

Prohibited from National Highway 27 towards Gosala via Tetelia.

These guidelines, issued by the DCP Traffic Guwahati, aim to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all during the Ambubachi Mela 2024.
