SIT Report on Gaurav Gogoi’s Alleged Pakistan Links Expected Today: CM Sarma

Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he is expecting the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to submit its report on APCC chief Gaurav Gogoi’s alleged Pakistan links by today.

After the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Sarma told reporters that the SIT deadline was September 10 and no extension had been sought. “So, I expect the report today. If they needed more time, you would have known from my office,” he clarified.

The Chief Minister said the findings would decide the government’s next steps. “If the revelations are serious, I will consult the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister. Otherwise, I will take decisions at the state level,” he added.

The SIT is investigating Gogoi’s alleged connection with Pakistan’s ISI, an issue that has sparked heated political debates in Assam. The report will be submitted either to the Chief Minister or the Chief Secretary.

Meanwhile, Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi reminded that September 10 was the day Sarma had promised a “big expose” against Gaurav Gogoi. “Either Gogoi will go to jail or Sarma will resign,” Akhil quipped.
