Police Operation Busts Counterfeit Currency Syndicate

Guwahati: A joint team from the West Police district and Jalukbari OP recently conducted an operation against counterfeit currency and successfully apprehended a suspect named Mofidul Islam from Bihpuriya, Lakhimpur district, near Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Sthal in Jalukbari.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that his accomplice, Rofikuddin from Laluk Islampur, had been running an illegal counterfeit currency network at a rented house near Mirza Rail Gate.

A subsequent raid in Mirza at 11:00 PM led to the discovery of a counterfeit currency printing machine and counterfeit notes amounting to INR 2,16,500 (comprising 433 fake notes of INR 500 denomination).

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the culprits.
