Shillong: The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, organized a send-off programme for 51 selected youths who will represent the state at the 28th National Youth Festival in New Delhi. The festival, held from January 10-12, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
Governor of Meghalaya, C.H. Vijayashankar, graced the event and addressed the participants. He expressed pride in the youth representing Meghalaya, urging them to perform well and share their innovative ideas to inspire others. “This event is a celebration of the vision of Viksit Bharat, and I am confident our young leaders will bring pride to our state. Remember, nothing is impossible if you strive courageously toward your goals,” he said.
The Governor also announced plans to honor the participants upon their return, along with Chief Minister Shri Conrad K. Sangma, to celebrate their achievements.
The contingent comprises 21 participants for the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue and 30 participants for traditional events, selected through a rigorous process during the State Level Youth Exchange Programme held in November 2024 at NEHU Campus, Shillong. The delegation will also include three escort officials to guide them in New Delhi.
