Guwahati: K.D. Iron Steel Pvt. Ltd., a well-known iron and steel company in Guwahati, is facing serious allegations of being linked to a theft racket. The company is accused of being part of a network dealing in stolen iron manhole covers taken from city footpaths.
The issue came to light on November 20, when an organized gang involved in stealing manhole covers was caught. Reports suggest that the stolen covers were sold through a bigger network in areas like Rangia.
Media reports claim that the owner of K.D. Iron Steel Pvt. Ltd., Dilip Goenka, is missing after the allegations surfaced. However, the company has issued an unofficial statement denying any connection to the crime and calling the claims false.
Officials are investigating the matter and are confident of solving the case soon.
