Pune: The Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL) has brought in a rider retention system for the first time in Indian motorsport history as it prepares for its Season 2 auction. The new rule allows each franchise to keep up to two riders from their previous squad, making team selection more strategic and competitive.
BB Racing decided to retain All Stars champion Jordy Tixier, while Reise Motorsports continued with Thomas Remett, who had finished third in the 450cc category. BigRock Motorsports, the defending champions, chose to keep Thanarath Penjan, the 250cc India Asia winner, while Gujarat Trailblazers retained Enzo Polias and junior talent Brian Giles. On the other hand, Mohite Racing opted not to retain any riders, preferring to build an entirely fresh team from the auction pool.
ISRL Co-Founder Eeshan Lokhande said the rider retention system would add excitement to the team-building process and raise the overall quality of competition. With the auction scheduled later this month, Season 2 is expected to deliver some of the most competitive racing ever seen in India.
