Guwahati: The inaugural ceremony of the International Conference on Science, Technology, Innovation and Policy for Global Health and Sustainability (ICSTIP-2025) was held at Assam down town University (AdtU). Organised by the Faculty of Science, the event marks the beginning of a landmark academic initiative aimed at fostering innovation, sustainable development, and global collaboration in research.
The ceremony commenced with Lamp Lighting and Saraswati Vandana performed by Dr. Radali Duarah, symbolising the enlightenment of knowledge and wisdom. This was followed by the Welcome Address by Dr. Manash Pratim Sarma, President of ICSTIP-2025, who highlighted the conference’s objectives and stressed the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve national and global development goals.
Distinguished guests were felicitated for their contributions to academia and research. Delivering the Inaugural Address, Prof. N.C. Talukdar, Vice-Chancellor of AdtU, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing a culture of research, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
The Souvenir and Abstract Book of ICSTIP-2025 was formally released, showcasing a diverse range of research papers and innovative ideas to be presented during the conference.
Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, Former Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University, graced the event as the Chief Guest and underscored the significance of collaborative research in driving sustainable growth, especially in the North Eastern region of India.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Suraksha S. Diwan, Scientist-F, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, on the theme “Harnessing Biotechnology for Sustainable Development in the North Eastern Region — India’s Emerging Growth Engine.” Dr. Diwan highlighted the transformative potential of biotechnology in advancing economic growth, improving livelihoods, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
The session also featured insights from Mr. Marek Zborowski of the University of Applied Sciences, Poland, and Prof. Vera Ferro Lebres, Pro-President, Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal, who shared international perspectives on science, technology, and innovation.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Partha Pratim Kalita, Convenor of ICSTIP-2025, who expressed gratitude to all guests, delegates, and participants for their valuable contributions to the success of the event.
