Guwahati: Gauhati University successfully conducted its Post-Graduate Entrance Exams (PGET) 2025 on July 10, 11, and 12 in a smooth and well-planned manner. The exams were held for students seeking admission to PG courses in the university.
This year, about 15,000 students applied for around 4,500 seats in 50 subjects. A total of 42,000 applications were received. To make it easier for students from different parts of the Northeast, the exams were held in 20 centres, including Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Barpeta, Tezpur, Jorhat, Nagaon, Silchar, Lakhimpur, Dhubri, Diphu, Bongaigaon, and Shillong.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta said, “Gauhati University is committed to helping every student succeed. We hope students will get the results they worked hard for and move ahead in their academic journey.”
Gauhati University, the oldest university in Northeast India, is known for its strong academic standards. It recently earned a spot in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, placed in the 1201–1500 global band and ranked 48th in India, the best in the region.
The university also ensured full support for students during the exams. Help was provided through hostels and admin teams, who guided students and gave them the information they needed.
