Former Assam Congress leader Romen Chandra Borthakur has joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The announcement was made on Wednesday, with Delhi cabinet minister Atishi officially welcoming him into the party.
Atishi noted, “He was associated with the Congress for a long time and has even contested the 2021 polls against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He has raised his voice against Sarma’s corruption.”
Borthakur contested from Jalukbari in Assam during the 2021 elections. He resigned from the Congress party earlier this year.
