Dispur: On the occasion of its 6th Foundation Day, Asom Barta, a daily newspaper published from Jorhat, announced its annual awards for 2025 at a press conference held at Dispur Press Club.
The Sahitya Unmesh Award for 2025 has been announced for Dr. Nanda Singh Barkala, a celebrated writer, poet, critic, and skilled police officer. Meanwhile, renowned singer and music director Manas Robin will be honored with the Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rabha Cultural Award for his immense contributions to Assam’s cultural heritage.
Additionally, the Janneta Dr. Purnanarayan Singh Politician Award has been announced for Mrinal Saikia, MLA from Khumtai constituency. The Homen Borgohain Journalism Award will be conferred upon Parmananda Bora, Bureau Chief of Upper Assam for Pratidin Time.
Special recognitions have also been announced for two correspondents of Asom Barta. Senior journalist Bhabesh Chandra Bhagwati from Dudhnai will receive the Journalism Award of the Year, while young journalist Sailen Gogoi from Tinsukia will be honored with the Youth Journalism Award of the Year.
