Guwahati: The 109th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Shree Marwari Databya Aushadhalaya (SMDA), the parent body of Marwari Hospitals, was held on Sunday at the hospital’s auditorium hall. The meeting saw active participation from society members, working committee members, and both clinical and non-clinical staff.
The meeting was presided over by Sarat Kumar Jain, President of SMDA, who presented a detailed report of the organisation’s activities for the year 2024–25. The Working Committee Report was adopted with members’ consent.
Addressing the gathering, Jain expressed gratitude to the founders, donors, and well-wishers, noting that the year 2024–25 had been one of “remarkable achievements and steady progress.” Highlighting key developments, he announced that the Cath Lab and Cardiology Department are ready for inauguration, marking a major milestone for the hospital. He also informed that civil work for the MRI Centre is progressing well, with support from CSR initiatives and Siemens supplying advanced equipment.
The President also announced upcoming projects, including an IVF Centre on the top floor of the Centralised Block and the revamp of the Mother and Child Wing to enhance patient comfort and safety.
Jain further lauded the hospital’s academic and professional growth, noting the success of its Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programmes.
General Secretary Kishore Kumar Saboo, in his first year in office, thanked the members and hospital staff for their constant support. He appreciated the community’s generosity and expressed hope that one day, treatment in the General Ward could be made entirely free of cost, supported by donors.
Acknowledging challenges such as staff retention and project sustainability, Saboo said, “With the blessings of our elders and the goodwill of our community, we will overcome every hurdle. Marwari Hospitals is not just a healthcare institution — it is a family bound by compassion and service.”
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Saboo. Members appreciated the management for the successful conduct of the AGM and shared constructive suggestions for future initiatives.
