Guwahati: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Assam has announced that it will contest all 126 Assembly seats in the 2026 elections on its own. The party ruled out any alliance with BJP or Congress, calling both parties “two sides of the same coin”.
Talking to the media, AAP’s State General Secretary (Organisation), Rajib Saikia said, “Congress started corruption, and BJP made it stronger. AAP will not join this broken system.”
He said AAP will soon start a movement for “Alternative Politics” in Assam. The aim is to bring together people and regional groups who believe in clean and development-focused politics. “We invite all regional and nationalist forces of Assam to join hands for people-first governance,” Saikia said.
He highlighted the success of AAP’s model in Delhi and Punjab, especially in education, healthcare, and public services. “We are ready to bring the same change to Assam,” he added.
Saikia said that AAP is confident about forming the government in Assam by 2026 if people vote for change. “By 2031, an AAP-led government in Assam is certain,” he said.
